What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation with a heightened state of awareness, which is induced either by a hypnotherapist or the person themselves.

This state of mind to the onlooker, resembles sleep, which is in fact how it got it’s name from the Greek word "hypnos" (to sleep), but far from being asleep, the person experiencing hypnosis may feel in a state of heightened awareness, in which they still have overall control of the mind whilst, at the same time being more open to positive suggestion from the hypnotherapist.

It is not possible that you could be made to do anything that you did not want to do. The person in hypnosis may experience their senses more and their memory may well be enhanced.

The state of hypnosis is a most pleasant and relaxing natural phenomenon, during which a person can talk quite easily. It is inconceivable that any harm could befall you.

Everyone passes through hypnosis five or six time’s everyday. It is that time you wake in the morning but can’t be bothered to open your eyes and then you are late for work. It is the time you come home tired, sit down and close your eyes, you can hear the TV, people around you or your neighbours, but you just can’t be bothered and time just fly’s by.

It is the time you are in a meeting, conference, seminar and the person talking has a monotone voice, you feel your eyes going heavy and can’t keep them open. That is Hypnosis.
